This is planning guidance, not engineering

Everything on this site — dimensions, calculators, sizing tables, guides — is provided to help you plan. It is not an engineering certification and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional. Vehicle bodies were built to order and vary; your bus is the authority on your bus.

Safety-critical work

Electrical systems, gas and diesel appliances, and structural modifications such as a roof raise can kill people when done badly. Have this work inspected or carried out by someone qualified. Fit a carbon monoxide alarm in any bus with a combustion appliance. Do not treat a figure from a website, including this one, as sufficient basis for a safety-critical decision.

Dimensions here are for planning. Verify against your own vehicle before buying materials or cutting anything.

Titling, licensing, insurance, waste disposal and where you may legally park or live differ by state, province and country, and change over time. Where we describe them we are describing the general shape. Check your own jurisdiction.
