Type A — cutaway van chassis

A Type A is a bus body built onto a cutaway van chassis. The body is narrower than a full-size bus — usually 74 to 76 inches inside rather than 90 — and that single number shapes the whole conversion, because a crosswise bed will not fit most adults. In exchange you get a vehicle that drives like a large van, parks in an ordinary space, and needs no special licence.
